1) Ideals of beauty and plastic surgery, what if beauty can be determined like a formula? Whatever fits is right, whatever does not is wrong? What if plastic surgery became something so common that people can easily look like who they idolize?
2) Many everyday objects that we dispose of took decades and centuries to decompose like plastics. Metals, glass, styrofoam can be physically broken but they cannot decompose. What will the future look like when landfills composed of these objects expand? Also, a lot of African countries like Ghana, were treated like landfills for HDCs to dispose of their electronic wastes. If this situation was never resolved, what will it look like in the far future?
Great topics. I think it's shocking how seldom e-waste is discussed in our culture. In fact we almost associate having the latest, greatest technology with somehow being more socially progressive. So I think it could be a highly educational project idea. At the same time, we are, as a species, obsessed with physical appearances, so projecting this into the future and considering how advances in technology and medicine might impact how we look - and how we alter our looks - is fascinating as well.
